Depart US on August 8 with overnight flights to Lyon. Day 1 5PM ship leaves Lyon. You will fly from US to Lyon and be escorted to the ship. Arrival by dinner and a sunset over the river. Lyon is the gastronomic capital of France, itself a UNESCO Heritage Site with a Renaissance center. If you are doing your own air, please check with us for arrival times for flights into Lyon. D Day 2 Tournus , Chalon sur Saone and Macon to include S. Burgundy and Beaune. Tournus area sports charming villages and the great Romanesque church: St. Philibert. You will also visit other lovely villages today. Beaune is a well preserved medieval town, famous for wine and 15th c. Gothic architecture. Throughout are the views of the Saone River. BLD Day 3 Macon, Trevoux with sightseeing to Cluny, Beaujolais countryside. Day 4 Tournon with sightseeing to The Mastrou. Besides the 16c castle and Roman ruins, this area has an old steam engine tour thru vineyards and villages. BLD Day 5 Arles and Avignon: Vincent Van Gogh today or the strange Camargue BLD Day 6 Avignon with the Luberon and Pont du Gard: The Papal Palace, aqueduct and Peter Mayle's Luberon countryside today. BLD Day 7 Vienne and finally back to Lyon and transfer to Paris. Day 9 – Lyon/Paris: Disembark and fly to Paris.Arrive Paris, the “City of Light” where you will be met by our representative and transferred to our hotel. Paris is one of the world’s most romantic cities full of monuments, elegant squares, picturesque streets and grand boulevards. Famed for the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Cathedral Notre-Dame, Paris and its surrounding areas feature countless other art, culture and food treasures. Breakfast is included each morning. (B) Day 10 - Paris: During your two free days in the beautiful city of Paris, enjoy the wealth of art museums Paris has to offer. Visit the Musée du Louvre, one of the world’s largest and greatest, with its many treasures including the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. An impressive collection of art from 1848 to 1914 is housed at the Musée d’Orsay and features many fine Impressionist paintings from the likes of Manet, Degas and Renoir. The Musée Picasso offers an unparallel collection of Picasso to view. You can also explore the many fine shops and cafes of Paris on your own. (B) Day 12 – Paris/U.S.: After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight to the U.S. Transfer time based on group flight to JFK. Club members often get together to share taxis for other times. (B) Princesse de Provence Princesse de Provence is a 4 star river boat with non smoking cabins and dining room. There are 70 cabins and one seating for dinner. The boat has the highest ratio of staff to passenger, bilingual staff, and a doctor on each boat. You will love your European duvet and feather pillows as you relax after a day cruising through the lavender scented hills of Provence. From bouillon midday to a fine 5 course lunch and dinner, you are feted glamorously.
