This is a four-star spa with 220 rooms at a fabulous price. The spa is surrounded by lush tropical gardens, has a nine-hole golf course, mineral and thermal pools, tennis, hiking, and much more. It is located 65 miles from the Mexico City Airport. Altitude is 5400 ft. Weather this time of year is perfect: 70's and sunny.

Transfers: Individual round trip airport transfers are $296 per car from Mexico City and $150 from Toluca. If you send us your complete flight schedule 30 days before departure, we group you with others to share the cost of transfers . Airport pickup for our group is noon and 3PM on day one; departures for the airport from the spa leave at 8:30 A.M. and 1PM on the last day. It takes one and one-half hours to reach Mexico City Airport and you are traveling internationally, so plan accordingly. We will determine transfer prices when we have final numbers for this group. We will then charge your credit card for that amount. Transfers are arranged on a first-come, first-served. If you need need airfare, ask! Finally we cannot change tranfer times after Jan 21 for Jan. group and March 1 for March group. .

The spa also offers sightseeing tours: Taxco for silver, pre-Columbian ruins, caverns, archaeological sites and markets. These can be booked once you arrive and we receive a FREE trip to Taxco if 30 go again this year. There are two restaurants: gourmet spa cuisine and an international dining room with some Mexican food. Bottled water is available as well as robes, sandals, a nice locker room, and friendly Mexican service. Men may use our discounted group rates.

Feb 4. Depart Ixtapan at 10:00AM for Angangueo with check-in hotel Don Bruno. We travel through the central highlands and we will stay in lovely Toluca. Today we are filling with sightseeing and a visit to the beautiful Vitral de Cosmos a beautiful indoor garden with stunning stained glass windows and exhibiting plants and flowers from the area. After a further tour of the area's highlights we continue to our hotel. B. at Ixtapan L.D en route. Overnight in Angangueo where we dine together at our hotel.(tba)

Feb. 5 Today we check out and continue to Rosario Butterfly Sanctuary for our encounter with the Monarch Butterflies. These are best seen late morning when the sun warms their wings. In Angangueo we exchange vehicles for the back of an open truck as we drive through the pastoral countryside to the sanctuary trail. The path is groomed but sometimes fairly steep but with convenient benches for occasional rests along the way. Near the top of the trail loop the density thickens until we reach the center of the resting monarchs. Millions of monarchs cover the tall oyamel and fir trees, and, as the sun warms their black-and-orange wings, the butterflies fill the air. The sight can be spectacular and some Mexicans hold the Aztec belief that the souls of the dead are reborn as monarchs. After lunch continue to Toluca for overnight and dinner. .(B L D )

Feb. 6 Morning transfer to airport in either Toluca or Mexico City. Those leaving from Toluca will be transferred to their flights and those going to Mexico City Airport will leave with our guide. For Mexico City flights, do not book them until 1PM minimum. (B).
