A week based in Florence with side trips throughout Tuscany and an optional day in Venice!!!
March 16 Depart US on flights. March 17 Arrive Florence and transfer to our 1st Class Hotel Baglioni. Meet our escort who will be with you for the next week. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. (Note: hotel check in is usually 3-4PM). Welcome dinner hosted by your escort, (D) March 18 This morning we visit Florence, the unofficial capital of Tuscany. Your local guide will take you on a walking tour and familiarize you with important sights. Our tour will end with the visit to the "Academia" and the statue of David- you may make your way back to our hotel on foot. (Entrance is included). The remainder of the day will be at your leisure. (B D) March 19 Day at leisure. (BD) March 20 After breakfast we travel to Pisa and enjoy time at leisure with our tour manager to visit the Square, Baptistery and the famed leaning Tower (outside visits only). After optional lunch travel to charming Lucca. Sightseeing in this historic walled city includes the Duomo and several of its one hundred churches. Later, return to Florence. (B D). March 21 Enjoy a full day excursion to historic Siena where you visit the Duomo and Piazza del Campo, site of the famous Palio races. Continue to San Gimignano, medieval jewel of Etruscan origin. Built by noble families, the fourteen towers that line the ramparts look like medieval skyscrapers. (BD) March 22 Full day at leisure. (B) Or Optional tour to Venice: Cost $tba per person based on 10 going. Inclusions; -R/t train Florence to Venice. -2hr. walking tour of Venice with English speaking guide, inside visit of Duomo. Free time Our tour manager will accompany this group to Venice. Last year the day was $140 pp. March 23 Today enjoy a tour of the Tuscan countryside. Visit the beautiful birth town of Leonardo Da Vinci, then head towards Chianti, famous for wine. It enchants every visitor with the beauty of the architecture, medieval small towns, castles, stone farmhouses etc. Visit Passignano, Motefioralle ,Greve, and Volpaia. (B L with wine tasting). March 24 Today, transfer to the airport for your return to the USA- transfer to coordinate with most flights. (B) Notes on this trip: We have mixed sightseeing with free time. Florence is a small walkable town and you will have the services of our tour manager to help you with ideas and directions for other sights and shopping. The Grand Hotel Baglioni is situated in the heart of Florence, 300 meters from Santa Maria Novella Station and from the most important museums. The 19th c. building, once the residence of the Carrega Bertolini princes, is typical of Tuscan Architecture. The Grand Hotel Baglioni offers all modern facilities while retaining typical Florentine charm and good taste. As in all historic hotels, rooms are traditional and differ in size and look, have private bathrooms and nice amenities. Note: The order of days can change to suit museum openings.
