Then we will head to Reykjavik for an optional city tour. Afternoon check-in at the ****Radisson SAS 1919, an 88-room boutique hotel located right in the heart of the city . . . within walking distance to shops, restaurants and charming streets to explore at your leisure. Evening at leisure. (Breakfast)

GeysirDay 3 - Saturday, October 11: Reykjavík.  After a typical Icelandic breakfast, you will be met by a host from Reykjavik Excursions to depart on one of Iceland’s most classic and popular tours, the Golden Circle. You will explore many of the natural wonders for which Iceland is justly renowned. Drive over Hellisheidi Heath to the geothermal town of Hveragerdi where heat-energy from the “center of the earth” is harnessed to grow exotic plants, fruits and vegetables. Next, take a short drive to Kerid, an extinct volcanic crater now filled with water. Visit the Þingvellis National Park, Iceland’s most historic site and travel on to the Great Geyser. Explore the hot springs area, and then continue on to the renowned Gullfoss Falls. You will find this day amazing! Return to Reykjavík late in the afternoon and relax. For dinner we suggest the Restaurant Reykjavik, a warm and cozy Icelandic restaurant just down the street from the hotel. (Breakfast)

Day 4 - Sunday, October 12: Reykjavík.  Enjoy today at leisure in Reykjavík, exploring or shopping along the city’s international center. Or you can join one of the many optional tours available through Reykjavik Excursions.

Some of our favorite tours are:

HallgrímskirkjaReykjavík Grand Excursion – During this tour Reykjavik’s main attractions are highlighted on foot and by bus. The main landmarks, such as The Pearl, Hallgrímskirkja church, the National Museum of Iceland, the harbour and the famous 101 Reykjavik neighborhood are visited.

Ishestar Horse Farm – A morning horseback ride on one of those adorable, gentle Icelandic horses. The ride lasts for one and a half hours and follows a trail through the spectacular lava fields. Suitable for beginners on horseback.

The Blue Lagoon – Not to be missed is taking a hot thermal dip in this amazing natural pool. The lukewarm water and natural active ingredients of mineral salts and blue-green algae do wonders for relaxation, not to mention  body and soul. The sandy bottom, lovely azure water and white silica mud gives one a unique geothermal steam bath. You can relax in a lava cave or swim in the lagoon.

South Shore Adventure: An opportunity to stand behind the plummeting Seljalandsfoss waterfall, walk up to the Skógafoss waterfall and gaze at Reynisdrangar rock formations. We will stop at the village Vík, which is surrounded by beautiful and impressive high bird cliffs and unique black sand shores.

Northern LightsAfter dinner at leisure, return to the hotel for the Northern Lights Tour, departing at 9:00 PM. Also known as the Aurora Borealis, this spectacular natural phenomenon, caused by the interaction of particles from the sun with the upper atmosphere near the North Pole, is visible beginning in October. The tour is dependant on weather and sightings are not guaranteed; however we go where it is most likely to see them and we are usually successful. (Breakfast)

Day 5 – Monday, October 13: Reykjavík.  Enjoy another day at leisure in Reykjavík, exploring, shopping, or join one of the other optional tours available through our associates. The Laugarvegur shopping street is a wonderful way to start the day. Located very close to the hotel, there is an excellent choice of vintage clothing shops, art galleries and cafes. Another nearby location is the beautiful Austurvöllur garden, where Icelandic people often sit in the sun with family and friends. The garden is surrounded by charming restaurants and cafes. (Breakfast)

Day 6 - Tuesday, October 14: Reykjavík/U.S.  After breakfast there is time for further leisure time as the group departure fight is at 5:00 PM. Transfer from the hotel to the airport for your return flight. (Breakfast)
