The Amalfi Coast with Naples and Pompeii and more
Why this trip? This is your visual Summer starter: dramatic coastal scenery, climbing villages at each turn of the road, an optional visit to jet setting Capri and back in time to Roman Pompeii. We included lots of meals and chose a charming hotel in the middle of 'pottery country'. The hotel is built on a rock overlooking the sea and has 2 pools, a bar, broad private beach, restaurant and more. Day 1: Depart various gateways in the US for Naples, Italy. Day 2: Arrive Naples, and be greeted by our professional tour escort, who will be with you throughout on the glorious Amalfi Coast. Transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Welcome drink and dinner at the 4 star Lloyds Baia in Vietri sul Mare, your home for the next six nights. (Welcome Dinner at the hotel with wine) Day 3: Full day visit along the Amalfi coast visiting Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento: This stunning coastline set along the rugged mountains, winds down the western coast of Italy from Sorrento to Salerno in the region of Campania. Many miles offer spectacular vistas with changing views of landscapes, rocks plunging vertically in to the clear sea, charming fishing villages with brightly colored boats set in the small harbors, and colorful flowering plants, houses and hotels nestled high in the rocks above the winding coastline — all contrasting dramatically with the brilliant blues of the Mediterranean waters. Dinner is included at the hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner with wine) Day 4: Excursion to Caserta with lunch at Gio Sole Farm House: After breakfast depart for our 2/3 day excursion. Just east of Naples, is the Royal Palace of Caserta. Known as the “Versailles of Italy,” this opulent 1,200-room Royal Palace was built for Charles III of Bourbon by the great architect Luigi Vanvitelli. The colossal work began in 1752 and was finished in 1774 by Vanvitelli's son Carlo through this lively city. We enjoy an unforgettable lunch at the Agritourismo, Gio Sole Farm House. Tonight free to explore the village of Vietri and its famous ceramics and have dinner in a local restaurant. (Breakfast, Lunch with wine tasting). Day 5: Full day excursion to Benevento the mountain and wine region of Campania with tasting of local wines in Torregaia area. (Breakfast, Lunch with wine tasting) Day 6: Visit of Naples and Pompeii : En route to Naples, we will have a guided tour of Pompeii, ruined city of the Romans at the foot of Mt. Vesuvius. Set on the Bay of Naples with views of Mt. Vesuvius, Naples is a city full of treasures. The city center is filled with palaces, churches, convents, monasteries and narrow streets. More than any other Italian city, the people and culture of Naples have greatly influenced the rich Italian-American culture. Lunch today is included to enjoy world famous Pizza. The evening is at leisure. (Breakfast,Pizza Lunch) Day 7: Option to visit the lovely island of Capri. Price: $125 based on 10 going. Capri’s enduring reputation, as a sybaritic paradise is a favorite of international celebrities, artists, actors and musicians, as well as Roman Emperors Tiberius and Augustus. With its beautiful, yet rugged landscape, mild climate and vibrant vegetation, Capri continues to enchant with its natural grottos, colorful harbors, beautiful gardens, luxurious villas and excellent restaurants. See the beautiful Cesare Augustus gardens, built on the ruins of ancient Roman structures. From here, enjoy the spectacular view of the Faraglioni, three majestic and solitary geological formations, rising from the blue waters. Return to the hotel in the afternoon. Tonight our Farewell Dinner at our hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner with wine) Day 8: Transfer to the airport and return to the USA (Breakfast) Note: Many airlines fly to Naples. Most arrive by noon therefore we are planning our transfer at 1PM. Should you book a flight arriving after 1PM, we offer private transfers from Naples Airport to Vietri, for approximately $215 based on 1 person- $115 per person from 2 persons to 8. On all Club trips we have a 24 hour number to call in case of delays; you will not be stranded in the Naples Airport. We do recommend that you arrive as early as possible on day 1. Remember the Club can book you a room at JFK for better arrival times.
