No visit would be complete without an excursion to see the Great Wall, truly one of the greatest feats of human engineering, stretching nearly 4,000 miles long. Begun in the 7th century B.C., final additions were completed in 16th century A.D. and originally built to keep out invaders of the north. Lunch is included during the tour of the Great Wall. You’ll also see “Mingshisan Ling” or Ming Tombs, a final resting place for thirteen Emperors of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D.). Built into Beijing’s scenic foothills, splendidly carved stone animals dramatically line the road on your approach. Tonight experience an authentic Beijing treat. Enjoy a traditional Peking Duck Dinner. "I recently returned from my Highlights of China trip & I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed it. It was wonderful. Our Chinese guide, Oscar, was fantastic. There was never a problem he could not solve & with 16 women there were some problems. In fact he also saw problems before they happened & gave us the info we needed to avoid them. Before each activity he had the info we needed to understand what we were going to see. He was very organized in regard to; hotels, air flights, motor transportation, food, ATMs, & in never lossing anyone. " Susan, China Highlights, November 2010 |
